The ADVANCER has arrived!

With controlled airflow completely independent of engine speed, unmatched fuel efficiency and significantly reduced maintenance costs, the ADVANCER brings the future of trailer cooling.

The ADVANCER A-Series is available in three different versions at launch, the A-360, A-400 and A-500, which represent a completely new design architecture and set new standards in performance, temperature control and fleet tracking.

“As a market leader, Thermo King understands that it is our responsibility to lead the way in developing the technology and capabilities of refrigerated transport. Since we started the industry more than 80 years ago, we have continuously innovated to meet and exceed customer needs, improve efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of our products,” said Francesco Incalza, President, Thermo King Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Today, the Advancer adds another milestone to our history. With the introduction of this completely redesigned refrigeration platform, we are pushing the boundaries of our industry. This is our vision for the future of trailer refrigeration, and that future is now here and available to our customers.”

“With ADVANCER, we went back to the drawing board and asked ourselves; what does the future look like?” said David O’Gorman, senior product manager at Thermo King. “We asked customers to tell us what they needed, what they needed to do better to win more business and operate at lower cost. The result is a breakthrough solution that we believe our customers have been waiting for.”

During real-world testing, comparative tests with the predecessor and competitors' flagship equipment showed that the ADVANCER can cool the cargo space to the desired temperature up to 40 percent faster and is up to 30 percent more fuel efficient than the market average.

“The road-testing chillers have covered over a million kilometres, traversed different climate zones and clocked up tens of thousands of hours of operation in both diesel and electric mode,” added O’Gorman. “They have traversed deserts, high altitudes, crossed seas on ferries and operated intermodal trains. The ADVANCER units have performed flawlessly throughout the tests.”

The new architecture incorporates customer expectations, meticulously collected from the outset and then incorporated into the design, along with Thermo King’s decades of experience and accumulated knowledge. As a result, ADVANCER includes unique features that comprehensively address a wide range of operational and financial challenges, such as:

  • Freely variable airflow that can be adjusted for every road and load, and is independent of the equipment's engine speed
  • Unparalleled electrical and fuel efficiency, contributing to a lower CO2 footprint, and engines with 50% fewer emissions, meeting the latest “NRMM V” emissions standard
  • Electronic engine speed control in the A-400 and A-500 models, making them the first chillers on the market to offer complete transparency on fuel levels and fuel consumption. Fuel consumption data is recorded, displayed and made available remotely via telematics
  • Lower maintenance costs and ease of service compared to its predecessor, thanks to sensors that accurately detect the performance and condition of the engine, fuel, battery and other key components
  • Fleet intelligence as standard. ADVANCER offers two years of full telematics connectivity in the purchase price.

Thermo King manufactures ADVANCER refrigerators at its zero-waste facility in Galway, Ireland. The newly designed, state-of-the-art production line uses 60% less energy than the previous unit’s manufacturing process.

Thermo King ADVANCER aligns with its parent company Trane Technologies’ 2030 sustainability ambitions, committed to reducing its customers’ carbon emissions by one gigatonne – equivalent to the annual emissions of Italy, France and the UK.
