We would like to draw the attention of our partners operating refrigerated vehicles to the latest changes in regulations related to refrigerated vehicles that affect their businesses.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 517/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Government Decree No 14/2015 (II. 10.), from 1 January 2017, all vehicles with a total weight exceeding 3.5t and equipped with a refrigeration unit must be registered on the website of the climate protection authority mentioned in our previous letter:

According to the regulations, testing stations are authorized to check the refrigeration unit during the annual technical inspection, which is carried out based on a sticker issued by the authority. Thus, a vehicle with a cargo compartment refrigerator exceeding 3.5t gross weight and without a sticker cannot pass a technical inspection.
In addition, the range of devices subject to leak testing has also been expanded, so that all devices with a charge volume exceeding 5 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent must be subjected to a leak test – in addition to registration. This value varies depending on the refrigerant type, the charge volume thresholds for the most common gas types are as follows:
- For R-404A: 1.28 kg
- For R-452A: 2.34 kg
- For R-134A: 3.5 kg
